Beach Baker is delighted to be working with a leading property consultancy exclusively on a new and exciting opportunity within the Business Rates team based in Cardiff at ideally Senior Surveyor, or Associate, Director Level.

Purpose of the role

Forming a key part of the Business Rates department and larger professional services team based in Cardiff you will be predominately focused on providing expert Rating advice, which help clients save substantial sums each year on their occupied portfolios and a further sums on empty property rates.

The key element of this role is to work with existing clients advising on office, retail and industrial properties. Other more niche asset classes such as leisure, health and fitness, equine, education and telecommunications sectors will also be part of the remit.

This role will involve

Undertaking the check, challenge and appeal process with national bodies

Presenting cases at Valuation and Upper Chambers

Full rates payment and liability management service

Advising on rating for empty buildings using a variety of mitigation solutions

Acting as expert witnesses

Skills and Qualifications

Ideally MRICS qualification with experience of working within a Rating team either for a private practice or for the Valuation Office Agency.

IT literate in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong organisation, prioritisation, time management and attention to detail skills.

Good communication and inter-personal skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, adaptable and proactive.

Good team player with a flexible approach.
