Job Description

As part of this company's strategic plan to grow our National Planning and Development business they are now seeking to hire a Partner or Senior Associate to be based in the Birmingham or Manchester office, who can drive forward the consultancy side of their Development offering.

Main responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Partners in P&D and Birmingham, and Manchester to provide expert advice to clients on urban development, especially around regeneration and masterplanning, including; development appraisals, option analysis and feasibility, input to business cases, structuring partnerships and delivery mechanisms, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Provide clear and commercial advice on policy (viability, CIL area wide assessment), option appraisals and funding support
  • Use your extensive network to drive forward the business and service line nationally with private sector clients.
  • Work collaboratively across all teams, and within development, to complement agency work being carried out
  • Mentor and supervise more junior team members
  • Build and leverage strong links with other Gerald Eve offices and be willing to visit other GE offices to further these linkages. (We anticipate that this may include working from the London Office approx. 1-2 times a month)
  • Contribute positively to our culture and working environment
  • Ensure financial and client onboarding compliance is being carried out for your clients and projects
  • Other duties commensurate with the position/the needs of the office.

About you

  • Experience in urban development's outside of London and particularly in the North or West Midlands private sector
  • Demonstrable experience in winning new business, with a strong ability to build networks internally and externally
  • Clear track record in advising key clients on major development consultancy instructions
  • Registered Valuer
  • Experience working in development consultancy
  • Demonstrable property market knowledge, options analysis, masterplan feasibility and route to market strategies
  • Strong commercial acumen, with knowledge of commercial delivery options and transaction structuring (conditional sale, development agreements, JVs)
  • Knowledge of public procurement is advantageous
  • Self-motivated with a real desire to deliver excellent client service.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in managing and/or mentoring others
  • Awareness of, and experience in, negotiating client contracts
