BPAA Charity Boules Competition 2015
Wednesday, July 22, 2015
Friday 26th June saw the return of the annual Bristol Property Agent’s Association (BPAA) Boules tournament and, for the most part, the event was blessed with sunshine yet again. The event was sponsored by Beach Baker Property Recruitment and Rupert Stuart-Baker, Director said: “Again we have enjoyed another great afternoon of Boules and networking at Goldney Hall. We are now in our eighth year of sponsoring this highlight in the Bristol Property Network’s calendar and look forward to next year’s event.”
As one of Bristol’s most popular property events, the BPAA Boules competition was once more highly attended and despite the dwindling sunshine 42 teams were in the running to throw their way into the final competitions.
The competition kicked off with the group stages with individual boules matches taking place in every direction: uphill, downhill, over the water - it didn’t matter! The top teams of each group qualified for the BPAA Champions Cup competition and the runners up qualified for the Sliver Plate Competition, leaving the rest to dry off their umbrellas and eat some bbq food in the beautiful orangery of Goldney Hall.
Cup Competition
After a couple of very close scores in the quarter finals, we saw a semi-final populated by TFT v Colliers and VWV v Mead King. VWV and Colliers dominated their games giving them each the chance to battle out in the final. For the second year in a row VWV made it to the finals and showed some real hope to take home the slightly battered trophy from the guys at Zest Design & Marketing who beat them to it last year. Alas, it was again not their time to bask in the glory, as Colliers eventually won the last game and took home the coveted BPAA Cup (see photo).
Silver Plate Competition
For two years, Foot Anstey have held the title of silver plate holders, but this year they didn’t manage to make the final, enabling a new set of competitors to play it out for the win. The quarter finals saw Zest, Gregg Latchams, Bloq and Watts dominate in their games and it looked like Zest, the reigning Cup winners, were on for the win. Then, in the semi-final, Gregg Latchams beat them out and out 7-0 and Watts beat Bloq 7-1. In a hotly contested final, Gregg Latchams came through beating rivals Watts for the Silver Plate.
Once again a great day for all taking part and for the two BPAA charities, The Starfish Pool Appeal and Above and Beyond.
