Thu 9 Jul 2009
Thursday 9th July 2009 saw another enjoyable day at the Orangery in Goldney Hall, Clifton. The Orangery was host to the annual Bristol Property Agents Association Boules Competition sponsored again by Beach Baker Property Recruitment.
The weather held up and there was a good turnout of 30 teams. Rapleys; the defending champions from 2008 were there to defend their title and 3pm saw the start of the series of matches for the Cup and Plate prizes.
With everyone in the competitive spirit, the first round of the Cup prize saw Beach Baker, Bevan Brittan, DTZ/EC Harris, Osborne Clarke, Meade King, Alder King, Burston Cook and Clarke Willmott 2 go through to the next stage. The following matches led to the quarter finals where Bevan Brittan faced DTZ/EC Harris. DTZ/EC Harris went through to the final facing Burston Cook who won their previous match against Alder King. It was a tense but friendly final with the whole Burston Cook family getting involved. The little ‘cookies’ put up a good fight but in the end DTZ/EC Harris took the title of the Cup prize.

The runners up prize of the Plate, won last year by BNP Paribas (AtisReal) saw CMS, CBRE, Aedas Architects, TLT, Hoare Lea & Partners, Gregg Latchams, Burges Salmon and ETP Property Consultants win their first round matches. The quarter finals saw CMS face TLT seeing CMS clinching their place in the final against ETP who knocked out Hoare Lea & Partners in their quarter final match. Again it was a close final but CMS clinched it and are the 2009 Plate prize winners, this year the Plate prize looked a little different with BNP Paribas (AtisReal) not making it this year and still holding the traditional prize from last years competition

All in all, this year’s event was another very successful day and evening with some new faces/firms coming along and giving very positive feedback. The Boules event is an excellent opportunity for networking, socialising and generally getting to know fellow property professionals. Guy Mansfield of CBRE and Sarah Ogden of DTZ did another great job of organising the event with the support of the team at Beach Baker which included a lovely BBQ and drinks to follow the competition.
