Job Description

A top specialist property consultancy in Bristol is offering a new and exciting opportunity for a Rating Surveyor at ideally Senior Surveyor / Associate level.

The firm is well-established and respected in the industry, with a proven track record of providing expert property and business rates advice that adds value at every stage of the property lifecycle.

The team

As part of this small dedicated Business Rates team and wider professional services team, you will have the chance to work alongside a diverse network of industry professionals and experts in the rating field.

You'll be joining a small team of experienced professionals who operate from multiple offices and strategic alliances, providing strategic insights and adding real value.

The role

The role itself involves providing expert rating advice, which can help clients save substantial amounts of money on their occupied portfolios and empty property rates. This includes working with existing clients to advise on office, retail, industrial, and more niche asset classes such as leisure, health and fitness, equine, education, and telecommunications sectors.

Other responsibilities include undertaking the check, challenge and appeal process with national bodies, presenting cases at Valuation and Upper Chambers, and acting as an expert witness.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess an MRICS qualification, along with relevant experience in a Rating team for a private practice or for the Valuation Office Agency.

Strong IT skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with excellent organisation, prioritisation, time management, and attention to detail skills are essential. Good communication, interpersonal skills, self-starter attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team are also crucial.
