Senior Rural Surveyor - East of England (Home-Based)
💼 £44,315 - £56,306 per annum

We're working with a leading land and conservation organisation to recruit a Senior Rural Surveyor for a strategic role managing a diverse rural estate across the East of England. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead on complex land transactions, mentor junior surveyors, and contribute to high-value acquisitions and ecosystem service initiatives.

This home-based role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to make a tangible impact on land use and environmental outcomes.

🌿 Key Responsibilities

Estate & Property Management

  • Lead on rural property matters including rent reviews, leases, licences, and land management contracts
  • Advise on agricultural systems and agri-environment schemes
  • Negotiate wayleaves, easements, and landlord consents

Acquisitions, Disposals & Ecosystem Services

  • Manage strategic land and property acquisitions and disposals
  • Explore and negotiate ecosystem service opportunities (e.g. Biodiversity Net Gain, carbon credits)
  • Conduct valuations and due diligence for rural assets

Risk & Compliance

  • Implement systems to manage legal, financial, and reputational risks
  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance with grant schemes
  • Contribute to internal policy and best practice guidance

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Line manage and mentor Rural Surveyors, supporting their development and performance
  • Provide guidance on complex cases and foster a high-performing team culture

Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with surveyors, area managers, and project teams
  • Represent the organisation with professionalism and credibility
  • Identify income opportunities and optimise land value

🧭 Candidate Profile

  • Chartered Surveyor (RICS Rural or equivalent)
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in rural estate management
  • Proven leadership and line management experience
  • Strong understanding of agricultural markets and rural legislation
  • Skilled in project management and cross-functional team leadership
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Passion for rural, farming, and conservation interests
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required
