Rural Surveyor - Agricultural Focus (Inverness)

A respected rural property consultancy is seeking a MRICS-qualified Rural Surveyor with a passion for agriculture to join their team in Inverness. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of the rural economy, supporting farmers, estate owners, and agri-businesses with expert advice and hands-on management.

The Role

This role is ideal for someone with a strong agricultural background who enjoys working closely with landowners and rural enterprises. Key responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management of agricultural estates and farms, including tenanted and in-hand operations.
  • Advising on farm business tenancies, contract farming agreements, and subsidy schemes.
  • Supporting clients with diversification projects, agri-environment schemes, and natural capital opportunities.
  • Conducting valuations for agricultural land, buildings, and rural assets in line with RICS Red Book standards.
  • Handling compensation claims, access rights, and rural infrastructure projects (e.g. utilities, pipelines, wayleaves).
  • Providing strategic advice on land use, succession planning, and rural development.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with farming clients and rural stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • MRICS qualified (or working towards it with a RICS-accredited degree).
  • Ideally RICS Registered Valuers with experience in agricultural valuations.
  • FAAV qualification or strong agricultural knowledge is highly desirable.
  • Familiar with Scottish rural policy, land tenure systems, and agricultural legislation.
  • Excellent communicators with a practical, problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
