Part-Time Town Planner (2-3 Days Per Week)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a growing and entrepreneurial property business seeking a Part-Time Town Planner to support its acquisition and development activities across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking for a flexible role with genuine variety. Working 2-3 days per week, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing and progressing potential development opportunities across a broad property portfolio.
The Opportunity
The business reviews a significant volume of potential sites each year, typically assessing 300-400 opportunities annually. As a result, a large proportion of this role will focus on planning research, site appraisal and the identification of development potential.
Alongside a core portfolio of operational assets, the company is also active within the wider property sector, reviewing planning proposals and development opportunities across multiple asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess potential acquisition and development sites from a planning perspective.
- Undertake planning policy reviews and site research.
- Identify planning constraints, risks and opportunities.
- Review local plans, emerging policy and planning applications.
- Provide strategic planning advice to support investment decisions.
- Assist with the preparation and management of planning applications where required.
- Liaise with local authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Support wider land, property and development projects.
About You
We are keen to hear from planners with experience in either the public or private sector.
Candidates with backgrounds in any of the following would be highly relevant:
- Industrial development
- Commercial property
- Employment land
- Strategic land
- Mixed-use development
- Land promotion
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Experience within town planning.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- The ability to quickly assess the viability and planning potential of sites.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- MRTPI status (or working towards chartership) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Location
The role can be largely undertaken remotely. Ideally, candidates would be able to attend the company's offices in either Gloucestershire or Herefordshire approximately once per week, although this is not essential for the right individual.
