Job Description

Development Surveyor - Associate/Associate Partner

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a thriving team with ambitious growth plans in the South West as an Associate or Associate Partner Development Surveyor, based in a multi-disciplinary Bristol hub office.

Working within a dynamic and expanding planning and development practice, you will support clients across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and the wider South West. This role offers a diverse range of consultancy, agency, and strategic land work, enabling you to play an active role in shaping the growth and direction of our Bristol team.

You will work closely with both the Planning and Development partners in the broader business and will have a pivotal role in growing the team around you.

Our client offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package, including 25 days' annual leave, pension contributions, and life assurance. Additionally, they provide flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, including DenPlan, Health Cash Plans, the option to buy additional annual leave, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide expert advice on residential, mixed-use, and strategic development land for a wide range of clients, from private landowners to charitable institutions and corporate clients. Your tasks will include:

  • Managing the disposal and acquisition of strategic land and immediate development opportunities.
  • Advising on planning and development strategies, including preparing formal reports and assessing alternative land use values.
  • Conducting development appraisal work and identifying potential development opportunities.
  • Providing valuation advice on land and property assets, including financial appraisals of development sites.
  • Supporting the negotiation of development agreements, including promotion, option, joint venture, and conditional contracts.
  • Assisting with major residential-led, mixed-use development schemes.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

As a RICS chartered surveyor with post-qualification experience in development consultancy and agency, you'll bring strong expertise in development appraisals, advisory services, and disposals. You should be able to provide detailed written option assessments and transactional advice and be proficient in Argus Developer (or an equivalent tool).

As an Associate/Associate Partner, you'll need to be a proactive team player with a forward-thinking approach and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you'll be building and maintaining client relationships and supporting colleagues in cross-selling opportunities. You'll work alongside an established team of planning consultants and the partners responsible for development services across the broader southern region.

This role offers a long-term opportunity to be part of a growing team, making it ideal for an ambitious individual. A full driving licence is required, as you'll be regularly visiting sites.

If you're ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, we'd love to hear from you!
