Chartered Building Surveyor - Birmingham
I'm working with a leading, well‑established Building Consultancy in Birmingham who are looking to appoint a Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor with solid commercial consultancy experience who's ready to take on more responsibility, work with a diverse client base, and make a real impact within an ambitious business.
You'll be supporting and delivering a wide range of building surveying services across the West and East Midlands, working closely with an experienced team that collaborates across Commercial, Rural, Residential and Infrastructure sectors. The Role
You'll be client‑facing and focused on managing and developing both new and existing projects, contributing directly to the financial goals and overall success of the Building Consultancy team. Day-to-day, you can expect to:
- Deliver the full spectrum of building surveying services to external and internal clients.
- Support colleagues across the Architecture & Building Consultancy team and collaborate on shared workloads.
- Carry out building surveys across commercial and residential properties.
- Prepare Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiate on behalf of clients.
- Lead on project management, contract administration and design for refurbishments, conversions and new-build projects.
- Produce feasibility studies and work alongside other disciplines as needed.
- Undertake Principal Designer duties in line with CDM 2015.
- Provide Party Wall services under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.
- Prepare Schedules of Condition and manage related negotiations.
- Advise clients on Planned Preventative Maintenance strategies.
- Investigate building defects and provide clear technical advice.
- Carry out development monitoring for landlords, tenants or lenders.
- Complete Reinstatement Cost Assessments across a range of assets.
- Undertake DDA access audits.
- Mentor junior team members and help drive performance across the team.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor.
- Proven commercial consultancy experience, ideally with exposure to residential assets too.
- Strong understanding of both local and national property markets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and produce clear, high‑quality reporting.
- Excellent client‑facing and communication skills, with the ability to support and develop junior colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence.
