About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality surveying, engineering, architecture and insurance-related services across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Surrey-based team. The role offers exposure to a diverse range of residential and commercial projects, including insurance-related instructions, defect investigations, refurbishment schemes and technical consultancy services.

The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering a broad range of professional and project services across a varied property portfolio. You will manage your own projects while collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of client objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake inspections and provide professional advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings and sites.
  • Carry out condition surveys, acquisition surveys, measured surveys and defect investigations.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
  • Design, manage and oversee refurbishment and repair projects using recognised building contracts and current technical standards.
  • Apply relevant legislation and industry guidance, including Building Regulations, Planning legislation, Party Wall matters and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Assist in developing existing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards and Health & Safety policies.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • A BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience within a building surveying consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building construction, defects and refurbishment projects.
  • Experience producing professional reports and undertaking defect diagnosis.
  • Previous exposure to insurance repair projects (desirable).
  • A good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, Party Wall matters and Building Regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, flexible and client-focused approach.
