The Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Associate Planner to join the Manchester office of our successful Town Planning division. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to play a key role in shaping the future development of sites across the urban and rural landscape, with projects across a broad range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage some planning projects from inception to completion and assist on larger, complex projects.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to clients, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies.
  • Prepare and submit detailed planning applications, appeals, and development proposals.
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients to negotiate and secure planning permissions.
  • Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
  • Mentor and support junior planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Stay abreast of changes in planning legislation and best practices to provide up-to-date advice and insights.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Proven experience in a senior planning role within a consultancy, local authority, or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, including relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in planning software and tools.
