A progressive opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner or Associate Planner to join a well-respected consultancy in Birmingham. You will be working as part of an established team based in prime city centre offices. This organisation has a national presence and a great client base making this role a fantastic option for progression and project exposure.
We are looking for MRTPI qualified candidates with consultancy backgrounds. We can consider Senior Planners or Associates who are confident client facers. Part of this role will be taking responsibility for a key client's regional portfolio, offering a great opportunity for management and a good level of responsibility. This aspect of the role will be 40-50% of your workload. Within this portfolio, the work is varied (retail (some retail project experience is preferred) mixed-use, change of use, resi etc). The rest of your workload will include a good variety of projects including large scale work within the residential, commercial, mixed-use, environmental and healthcare sectors. Candidates with knowledge of the Midlands market and Geography are advantageous but this is not essential and relocators will certainly be considered.
Your role will require you to provide expert town planning advice to your client base offering a consultative approach to problem solving and helping to deliver schemes to deadlines. You will be preparing and submitting planning applications, writing planning statements, advising on planning policy, preparing retail impact assessments/sequential tests (software and support is provided if this hasn't been a large part of your role before), mentoring and supporting junior members of the team, growing your client base via business development activity, site visits (a driving licence is required) and advice to other multi-disciplinary teams in the office and wider planning team where required.
