An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Director level Town Planner to lead and grow an established planning team based in Southampton. You will be joining a lovely office based in the city centre (parking available) just 10 minutes' walk from the main train station. The office is well established and one of the big names in the region.
We are looking for a Director level Town Planner or a strong Associate Director looking for a progressive opportunity. You must be MRTPI qualified and have some private sector experience (ideally from your current or most recent role). Your role will be to lead and develop the planning team within the wider office, contributing to the success of the firm's national planning team. The team currently work on a wide range of projects varying in scale across residential, commercial, mixed-use, education and public sectors. Their client list is very impressive and offers the chance to work with both major developers/institutions and private land owners. The planning team are very busy with a good pipeline of work to get stuck into straight away as well as a good number of tenders submitted adding to the bank you will be able to develop work from. We are looking for candidates who are excellent technical planners but who also enjoy the buzz of business development and are used to having the latter as part of their role. You should be able to demonstrate; good management experience and people skills; that you are well connected within the South Coast market; and that you are used to developing business either from your own clients or within the client base you have been operating in.
In terms of project experience, we are really looking for a strong generalist, the team have very strong experience in residential, mixed-use, commercial, education and more recently strategic land. It would be great to compliment these, but we would also consider specialists with strong contacts within their respective fields. It is imperative that you have experience and contacts within the Southampton area and surrounding regions. This role is not suitable for relocators or those purely coming from a local authority background.
